Sorry guys, didn't mean to cause any trouble. :? Fiat group hug is in order. :P

I have to say that I tested the new adjustable fan switch and the fan actually came on at about 185 with the car idling in my garage, never had that happen before! So I'm pretty impress! Mark gave me great customer support with helping hook up the switch. Thanks again Mark. :D

Matt, because you write "not to harp..." doesn't give you free reign without a response. If for no other reason than to make the turn-on temp adjustable the switch has merit. Many of my customers had concerns about summertime temps so we started using the adjustable controller and thought others might see it's benefits also.
If you search "cooling fan" threads on this forum you'll find pages and pages of suggestions to add an override toggle to turn the fan on if, 1. the stock switch fails or 2. you want to run the fan at a lower temp.

Again, I was asking a simple question (Why have two systems?), and now have the answer (adjustability). I NEVER commented on the merit, reliability, installation, or performance aspects of your product.

hi i believe i installed the controller correctly..

just attached the wires for the stock sensor to the controller and stuck the probe near the upper driver side of the rad. (marks aluminum rad).
i let the car idle and the temp eventually got to 190 and the fan wasn't coming on, so i adjusted the setting to the lowest possible thinking it would just start up, but it didn't.

did i maybe connect the wires wrong? not sure which one would go to which make connector on the controller.

also i searched the forum and saw mark mentioned you could also attach the probe to the hose.
do you mean sticking it inside the hose?

it's better to put the probe into the rad fins rather than strap it to the hose. We've found that the probe needs to be inserted completely into the fins for adequate temp reading. If the probe isn't inserted fully, the liquid inside doesn't expand enough to pressurize the switch. If you want to test the operation, heat the probe with a hair drier or heat gun

I really like the idea of an adjustable switch for the fan. I had issues 10 years ago with one of my Lancia's where it would be guaranteed to overheat if I was stuck in traffic or in a car park in summer. I ended up wiring a manual switch into the cockpit back in the day. Being able to adjust the fan switch for summer and winter makes a lot of sense in my climate.
