I've got a 79 spider. It has the large hazard switch. I had the battery out for a charge, and when I reinstalled it, the flashers started blinking. I pushed the hazard button in, which was in the out position. It would not lock in the off (in) position. Anyone had one of these switches apart?
Is there a fix for this issue?
anyone have a spare they'll sell on the cheap?

Jay,
I like the toothpick as it's never gonna fail again. I had tried earlier tonite to unsnap the 2 halves, but decided to ask here before I broke the tabs.
Thanks for the link.

Here's a topic on the issue from a member here on the forum: http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18397
This worked well. I used two small thin screwdrivers (like you'd use in electronics / computers) to carefully pry the case apart where the snap tabs are located. May not be "pretty" when you put it back together but it will work. Dantye's write-up worked like a charm for me. Saved me $80, too!

Re: Hazard switch won't shut off
Fixed. you need 3 hands to pry that case open, but I got it open and found the long guide arm with the pin on the end. It bound up a bit trying to reassemble on the cupped end of the button side, and the lower contact in front of the guide arm.
Easy repair. Thanks all.

Hey CajunMike din't use super glue to fix the problem, but did the fix by bending the silver tab inside to ride in the slot, sorry .
Thanks everyone for the fix.

Re: Hazard switch won't shut off
follow up. I got the hazard switch back in but my 4 way flashers don't work now. turn signals OK. Guess it'll have to come out again.
