small tip for Seat Removal

Post by ericg »

I'm a first time owner and just got my sweet little 71'. I spent the day Saturday tinkering with the seats which needed re-upholstery, and thought I'd share my first little tip/tweak. Because getting to the screws on the rear of the seat tracks is such a pain, I simply drilled through the seat pan to make a small hole on each side so that I could put a screw driver straight through to the screws. This proved a good idea since the screws were almost totally stripped! When I re-assemble I'll use Allen Wrench bolts on front and back for much easier access and stronger tightening ability. Cheers!

anytime  I was lucky and only had to remove the foam to get to the existing bolts. I did lube the tracks after my upgrades, and added better bolts for future removal if needed. 8)
