Engine Running Video

Post by Divers »

Going to try and link video. Since I have never actually heard another Fiat engine...EVER. Does this sound good? Still have some idle issue's. The engine REALLY like 1200 rpm and gets really lumpy lower. When the engine was warmed up I pulled the plug off the sensor in the T housing and the engine shut off????? Ideas? Anyway engine the video (if it works)

It's RUNNING!
Good job man. Way to hang in there.

So, it sounds like you have no exhaust system... if you have no exhaust system, then this is a good thing :!:  If it DOES have an exhaust system... then you've got some work to do.

But the best news of the post: IT'S ALIVE! 8)

Maytag...all came down to timing. Beek told me how to use the adjustable cam wheel to get things very very close. Then I figured the static timing was off....with my setup needed to be a little more advanced. I am at 15 degrees advanced by eye now. This weekend I am going to use a timing light and really check.

Congrats.

Are you guys doing anything with the dizzy springs to modify the curve?

Are you taking off the heater plate on the manifold?

the motor sounds smooth and good. Did you degree the cams? The reason I ask is that if those cams are set up with a 109 degree lobe center the idle can be less than 1200. If you have them set up with less lobe separation they will be lumpier at idle

Mark,

Did not degree the cams. Don't even have a clue how to do this. Whole car just setup per what I read in a book. Will have to learn and study this cam dregreeing stuff!

Thanks!

Robert

PS Cannot wait to install your exhaust and get this thing on the road!

mark, for the sake of getting the car running , i had him set the crank at tdc then adjust the cams to the housing marks as alligned with the pullies, the head was decked and the block decked. this was close enough to make it run. i will work with him to degree the cams in at a later time.

Just to be clear...the timing was always correct (after Randy switched my cam wheels which I would NEVER have known about).
Starting had nothing to do with the static timing. My screw up was timing the distributorless igntion. Once I put it at 15 degree's advanced and adjusted the LED the engine fired right up.

I know I have lots to learn, but not THAT stupid to screw up static timing :)

Now...off to read on degreeing cams after the engine is together....
