So I decided to change the tranny lube in my car, because I had no idea what lube the PO had put in it after they replaced the transmission.
I filled her with NAPA GL-1.
This is a 1980, 5-speed car.
The PO said the transmission was replaced, but they had no idea what year the replacement tranny is.
While I was filling her up, I noticed an electrical connector several inches above where the fill-plug is located, on the passenger side of the tranny.
There are no wires connected to it.
It appears to have 2 small spade lugs protruding from it.
It is not the reverse-light switch -- I know where that is located.
Can anyone tell me what this other switch/connector is supposed to be for?

that switch is usually for emissions once it is 4th or 5th gear on the years that had all the emissions stuff, to be sure do a continuity test with a multimeter to see when it turns on while you are selecting the gears.

That switch is for the ejector seat so it only works in first and reverse.
Actually Divace73 has it right, it is for the emmissions systems on early cars and probably closes in 4th and 5th gears.
Ignore it

Many thanks, guys.
