Another no start...

Just pulled off the line and turned the pump on...it works just fine. Guess that means a restriction from the start of the hard lines through the rail? The rail was redone...so would have to be the hard line which is very weird?

Is there any reason that I cannot rip out the metal line in the cab and just replace with 5/16 fuel injector line straight from the filter output to the inlet of the rail?

replacing the hard line with hose should be considered a temporary fix. FI hose will eventually leak and that is not only messy in the cabin but somewhat unsafe too.

I bought a fuel pressure tester today...so I will just check the output of the pump for pressure....I have flow, just need to check pressure. What's the chance the 5' run of hard line is clogged? Seems odd. Anyway, with the gauge I should be able to find out what's going on.

75 psi before the hard line...guess the pump is good.

...and finally at the other end we have 2psi.....guess I have to decide on replacing the hard lines or just running fuel injector "soft" line direct from the filter output to the rail input.

This sage is slowly coming to an end. What a learning curve.

This is ridiculous!

So got the car running, then decided to fix my wiring at the gauges. Got all my gauge lights to work and everything to function. Went to start the car and back to square on...engine cranks but will not start!

I KNOW I have fuel
Noid light on cold start good
Noid light on injector #1 good
Brown wire fuse good
All power good to double relay
My distributorless ignition light flashes while cranking.
Timing is still spot on where BEEK left it.

What the HELL could I have done. I have been pouring over schematics for 2 days wondering what I could have done.

Input? Guess I could for giggles check compression....BUT...I did not mess with anything in the engine bay.

Compression about 115 on all cylinders which seems low with the 4mm pistons, but timing may be slightly off.

This soooooo sucks!

Anytime an engine will not start you need to start with the basics. Pull plug, make dang sure you have spark. Saying "I knowI have fuel" is a sure way to bring that Murphy guy into the picture, crack a line or piss a little fuel in or hook fuel pressure gauge up. You are making some mistake like we all do, just slow down and make it run one step at a time.

So much more involved in compression than pistons. Yes that seems a tad low, least they are all even. Wild cams create low cranking pressures.

I agree...pulled plug today and checked spark is ok. Going to put some gas in a cylinder...

So..pulled gas line and have 80 psig.

Question...when I hooked the noid light to the cold start it came on VERY bright. When I did injector #1 it was dim! It did pulse but the light was dim. Does this matter? I also have 12vdc to both sides of the injector plug when the key is just on (not cranking)

Well.....went thru everything in the troublshooting manual and all checked out ok. Just when I was going to button things up and run for cover I heard the fuel pump running. The ignition was off and the afm was closed. This just happened cause it was fine prior. When I pulled the connector off the dual relay, the pump shuts off. So....assuming a bad (shorted relay), I just ordered a new one. My assumption is that the dual relay may have been unstable all along and now just internally shorted (which is strange for a mechanical relay).

Double relay did not fix the problem :(
