Seat belt question

Post by profcucchi »

I have a '79 and the seat belts seem short; about 6 inches or so.

Did this year come with an actual 3-point harness or did my car get reupholstered without the guides?

I have to have the seat all the way back to be comfortable, but without the guide, it's actually choking me! I'm not concerned with authenticity; I'd like the comfort.

If they have to be redone, any suggestions?

Thanks.

There should be a guide by your left shoulder. It's a small doodad that screws right through your upholstery. Feel around that frame and you should feel holes on the back of the seat right near the edge, like less than an inch. I might even have an extra guide or two in a box around here, but I think mine are a weird color. Paint could fix that, though.

Thanks for the reply.

It was reupholstered and the doodads weren't replaced, so the belt is awkward. If I can't find them locally, I'll check in with you.

These are yours if you need them. Just send me a PM with your address. They aren't perfect, but the price is right...
