New Fiat Owner

Post by mgdaddy105 »

I purchased a 1980 Spider last fall just before we got what it seems like 20 feet of snow here in beautiful Vermont. I am looking forward to working on it. I have been a life long MGB owner but i could not resist the comfort of this car. I am trying to locate some alloy wheels. Seem difficult to find. The car needs paint. The body has a liitle rust, but nothing tragic.I plan on painting it , putting the new top on as well as the new tranny. Thanks for letting me in.

Hey Guy. Welcome to the site.

1980 is a great car. Fuel injected or carbureted?

You'll find the Fiat crowd quite different from the LBC crowd, and personally, I think much more supportive.

Do you have a picture of the wheels you want? they can be found....or are you just looking? remember that you need a not so easy to find in new 4 x 98 bolt pattern. Used, is a different story all together. try these places first: http://www.fiatparts.com http://www.international-auto.com http://www.vickauto.com http://www.baylessfiat.com

lets see.... for other parts in general, also look at http://www.midwest124.com and if you need something specific, just ask. there are lots of Fiat friendly vendors out there, when you know how to look.

we'd love to see pictures of your new baby, too.

Welcome to the forum Guy. If you don't already know it, this is a great site. I'm constantly amazed at the help available here. Very knowledgeable people and so popular that we can usually get an answer to a post in quick time.
In your '80 a Ca. FI, or do you have carb?
Be sure to give us pictures before and after your project.

Welcome Guy ,I also owned a couple MGB's before being bitten by the Fiat bug.Fiat owners are a lot more supportive ,and I find the Spider to be a far superior car. There are a lot of very knowledgable folks on this forum ,who always seem willing to help.Good Luck

Welcome to the other side of the fence, Guy! You'll find the Fiat to be more modern for it's time than an MG but it does have a personality all it's own. We're here to help you sort out any problems that may arise. Don't forget to post pics!
