1800 engine runs well but...

Post by psg »

Is it possible for an engine to run well, start well, accelerate well and the dwell to be only about 4 degrees? I thought my meter was working fine and the other functions check out so what am I missing? I only put the meter on the engine out of curiosity but now I wonder. Just goes to show don't look under a rock unless you want to see what is there. psg

I had a couple of cars behave the same way. I never worried about too little dwell on an otherwise nice running engine; too much dwell can be a problem as it will cause the coil to overheat.
