Non-Working Tachometer

Keep it on topic, it will make it easier to find what you need.

Dan, I have a 2L in my 79. I dont often rev very high, just shift when the power slacks, and 4000 sounds close to what I do usually... The smaller displacment engs like to rev. I always keep my idle low, you may also need to adj the mixture screw, as they need to be set at slower rpms. Ive got an old volt/ohm/dwell and tach meter that I use, you really need to adj the dwell ( points ) using one, then set the ign timing. These are cheap, ( meters ) and not hard to find. Maybee you should upgrade to electronic ign? Did you find a 4-2-1 manifold?

I definitely plan on moving to electronic ignition (the way it should be anyway). Also, I did see a 4-2-1 exaust manifold on a 1600 engine posted on the FLU forum, and posted a general question as to fit. Didn't get an answer there. Anyone here know if that will fit my 2L? Not high on the list, but if something falls into my lap cheaply, I'm not one to pass on it.

it will fit, except for the egr crossover if you have a carbed head

Even better, because I've got that EGR passage blocked off on the intake side when I went to the 1800 manifold.
