2&3 Not Firing Well, Engine Rocking
Re: 2&3 Not Firing Well, Engine Rocking
get yourself a tap and die, 10x1.25 and clean all the threads in the block for the head bolts and the head bolts themselves. That's the only way to ensure accurate torque values when you re-install the head. Make sure both head and block surfaces are clean enough to eat from

also make sure you use a bottom tap. a standard tap wont get to the last 1/2" of tread.

Houston: We are go for launch!!
We are re-assembled and now I know what my beloved car should sound like!
A couple of "near missed" along the way with weak head threads and we almost missed setting the auxillary shaft pulley to 1:00 but caught it before turning anything. This is crazy easy to forget!
I put some extra money into performance gaskets because of the dual carbs (and because I don't want to do this again for a long time).
I'll synch the carburetors this week and take a look at the funky wiring that is giving some starting problems from time to time.
Also, replaced the starter while everything was pull and there has just gotta be a better way to bolt that thing on.
Thanks as always for all your help.... couldn't do it without this community of fine folks.
