Gauge cluster removal

Post by BrwnRecluse »

Yes, I tried the search feature. But I'm handier with wrenches than I am with keyboards!
I can remove the gauge cluster in my B2200 in ten minutes, but I'm new to the Fiat. I have a new speed cable coming and my temp gauge may have died today. Can someone direct me to the removal sequence? Thanks!

Unscrew the four chrome knurled bolts from the face and it will pull forward. Easy-peasy.

How far can you pull it out? Should you disconnect anything at the back of the cluster first?

Tried the four bolts first. However, my gauge and center section are one piece; a nice groove between them but not cut apart. Seems I need to release the center section as well.

I'm not sure I understand. I offer the following to possibly help. after unscrewing the four chrome bolts as Ron stated you should be able to pull the whole wooden piece with all gauges forward a few inches from the dash. it may help to drop the steering column or remove the steering wheel to gane more room. There are a few things you can do at that point with the few inches of clearance. You can unhook the speedo cable. plastic snap or unscrew depending on year. You can also unhook the electrical connections for each cluster. Great time to clean all your connections.

Here's a picture of the problem. Maybe some PO replaced the dash sometime in the dim past. I don't have separate pieces of wood on the dash, it's all one piece. Do I pry out the center section?

Figured it out. This dash is a one piece to the glove box door. I managed to get the bezel to unscrew from the instrument light dimmer, then the panel could be removed. Thanks!

Got the new speedo cable and my wife and I got it in today.while I went under the car, she went under the dash

We now have a functioning speedometer! Also pulled the cowl and freed up the wiper arms. Finally, a vehicle with slower wipers than my B2200. Now for the turn signals and trace the source of the low speed stumble.

I had to show this to my wife.
She shook her head and had one word; "no".

Yep, I showed the pic to my wife as well and she said "the last thing I'm going to do is go under the other girls dash!".

Well, sometimes it's "Love conquers all" and other times it's just "Love: CONK!"
