Re: Carb
32/36 is big enough for a 150HP+ motor, so whatever you are trying to do isn't the carburetor's fault. As the Weber techs used to say "it is big enough for a Greyhound bus." 34ADF, as mentioned in the previous post, is slightly larger on the primary side but isn't going to dramatically change anything if you already have a 32/36.fiat218 wrote:If I have a 32/36 dfev on my spider, what size would be bigger and way better
If you changed your intake manifold, cams, exhaust, or pistons and the DFEV is having delivery issues then describe what you've done.

Re: Carb
What you are describing has been performed by many, many people with great success. Work at it one system at a time and we'll help you get it straight. I can assure you that carburetor works wonderfully on all of the TC motors.

Re: Carb
I believe that, hard to explain, maybe it because my 72 is quick, very quick in acceleration ,and that a 2.0,I don't think anything has been done to the engine, but I'm not sure, it just seems like some thing is holding this car back in powerbradartigue wrote:What you are describing has been performed by many, many people with great success. Re: Carb
Sluggish Spider with a good carb and manifold, I'd be looking at the ignition advance before the carburetor.
Also worth noting is if you put a stock air cleaner on a DFEV it will be horribly sluggish. I painstakingly restored a 1438 intake manifold to re-use it and maintain a stock look and then I drove the car. Sad. Took the cleaner off, hauled ass. Sprint cleaners and "Meaner Cleaners" work great but stock sucks on that carb.

on, I never did change the exhaust manifold,u think that it, I check to see if the butterfly's open, one does, the other don't unless it in passing gear, is that how it works?

No, you should be able to open both butterflies with the throttle.fiat218 wrote:the other don't unless it in passing gear, is that how it works?
Are you absolutely sure you have a DFEV? If the secondary opens by vacuum then you have a DHSA, which would be a sluggish pig...

You said a butterfly doesn't open until "passing gear" - I don't know what this means.fiat218 wrote:Yes I bought it the direct carbs 199 as u went to that page I got the one with the auto choke,http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/Weber_C ... ors_s/2.qm, the first one u see, i gotbradartigue wrote:No, you should be able to open both butterflies with the throttle.fiat218 wrote:the other don't unless it in passing gear, is that how it works?

Are you describing the throttle plates (inside the carburetor) or the choke flaps (on top of the carburetor)? I want to know if the throttle plates open fully when you rotate the throttle linkage.
