So when I got my fiat all 4 of the little indents that the spark plugs sit is was totally FULL of oil and there was oil getting on the exhaust and burning. I for the most part ignored it and just topped up the oil weekly. I decided that I would attempt to fix the oil leak because the car has ran wonderfully the entire time I had it even with the 1000miles of nearly flat out driving. So I degreased the engine and wiped all of the old oil off and this is day 3 and the only new oil I have is a small drip of so coming from the oil fill cap. No more oil on the exhaust and no more underhood smoke. Did my fiat manage to fix itself? If so THIS CAR ROCKS!!
Ideas? Because before it used like a half a quart every 250-300miles.
Alright oil leak voodoo time.

Cat,
Good to get that crud off the engine, keeps it running a bit cooler. Get a new oil-fill gasket and keep an eye on those potential upper leaks. Keep checking your oil every 250-300 mi. It may be going out the exhaust pipe or dripping elsewhere.
Meanwhile, enjoy the driving.
