Re: oil breather hose 78 spider 124
Still looking for a "GOOD" oil breather hose ( 1978 fiat spider-- this is the 90 degree rubber hose attached from engine.... )
I purchased one from Vic's about two months ago, and it is already split. Not sure the product sold is the right rubber to hold up to the oil and heat. It never fit really well or that it was really designed for this use even though it fit with some cutting. Please help or suggest an alternative fix for this? Is there any hard fittings (from Home Depot or... or other creative source?)

assuming you made no errors in installation, i would contact Vick's and see what they have to say first. that hose should last YEARS not months.
Mine was purchased from Vick's also, and i have had no issues.
Since we readily find them at our standard sources, and have no issues with our replacements, we don't have a recommended alternative source such as Depot (which prolly doesn't carry motor oil resistant rubber) for that 90 degree hose.
for some things, our standard vendors are the best sources.

I think that if you called Vick's, ask for Csaba (pronounced Chahhba), and explain your experience, that he will try to get you a good part. I know what you mean about getting the cheap parts, though. I had the same experience with the water hose from the heater to the intake manifold. The 'rubber' was really thin, and was more like vinyl than rubber. Anymore it is really hard to find good parts.

Thanks all for the input and suggestions.
I have emailed Vick's and will await their reply. As far as installation failure... not sure how to botch up connecting two ends of a hose? Other than that, the hose delivered didn't really fit all that well and took quite a bit of finessing to get on. Could have suffered some stress, yet, I just think it is a substitute hose that just kinda fits (only my opinion at this point). Not sure if the material is intended for oil/fuel (resistance) and heat but more of the quality of a water hose.
As far as the Home Depot question, I had seen a thread some time ago suggesting some kind of gas fitting used for home natural gas plumbing that had just the right dimension on both ends. I was interested in something like that which could be an improvement over the rubber which degrades with time. Ohhh well, perhaps--another "senior moment!"
