help....this ones got me stumped.
I was driving the fiat the other day and it just died. No stumble no vibrations engine just went silent. I tried cranking but discovered after pulling coil wire there was no spark. Tracing back I found the magnetic pick up coil with melted against the exhaust manifold. I replaced pickup still no spark. I replaced control module and I have spark again. Car cranks but wouldn't catch. I pulled the power wire from fuel pump figuring it was flooded. Car started and ran for like 3 minutes with no fuel pump on. When it died I figured it was no longer flooded so I reconnected fuel pump and car won't catch. Disconnect fuel pump and car runs until out of gas again. Why won't it run with fuel pump connected. It just floods the cylinders. Any suggestions?

We'd need to know whether it's not firing with the fuel pump connected because (A) you're not getting spark at the plugs, or (B) because the injectors aren't getting pulse signal to figure out this one.

it shouldn't be able to run for 3 minutes without the pump. 10 seconds would be more like it. Also, the pump shouldn't run with the key on without the engine cranking or running unless the afm is misadjusted

Update... car fixed.....it seems the magnetic pickup was too close to distributer shaft fins and was grounding out. After readjusting the magnetic pickup car started and ran fine....weird...thanks to all who replyed. PS mark. PO bypassed the fuel Injector double relay with a wire runningunder dash directly to started switch
