Leaking oil

Post by nibbes123 »

Is it normal for oil to leak out of exhaust manifold stud to the far left at the fire wall or under the distributor, need some advice on this matter. Forgot to mention that I removed the old manifold which had the air pump line on top and installed a one which is smooth 4-2-1, the car is a 74 spider with 1800 motor.
Thanks

The two top studs go through to the inside of the head. They can, with time, drip oil. Double nut and pull the studs and add a thread sealer and install again.
The dst. should have a gasket between it and the cam tower. Has that packed it in and is dribbling out there as well?

Wipe the entire underside of the distributor clean, then check it after a drive or two. The internal seal of the dizzy ages and leaks over time, and is evidenced by oil deposits at the weep holes on the underside. OTOH, If it's the gasket, these holes will be dry but the cambox/dizzy joint will be wet.

Took out the stud and put on the RTV copper silicone on the threads screwed it back in worked like a charm.
