If I remove the vacuum advance on the distributor electronic ignition will the engine run good. I am in the process of changing the dual points system to electronic ignition on my 74 spider. Also the reason I want to remove it , so as I have more clearance under the hood when I close it , if I turn down the distributor as far as possible to the exhaust manifold.
Thanks
Nick

most likely the vacuum advance doesn't work anyway but for best results you need to modify the mechanical advance to make up the lost advance the vacuum unit supplies

I ran a 2L with a 71 carb with bigger jets. I locked the vaccuum advance. The car drove great. I never did try to fine tune it for max performance, but was a good reliable motor with a great midrange.

Hey Mark I purchased the electronic ignition from you which was listed on e bay last month. Would you be able to show or tell me on how to modify the mechanical advance and where should the timing be set at.
Thanks
Nick
