Help! Let the craziness begin

I am getting ready to undertake an engine rebuild on my 82 spider. I understand basic mechanics and am tooled up. I'm also a little ocd about labeling, taking pictures/videos, taking notes etc so I'm confident I can pull this off. What I'm hoping is that the folks in the know out there will give me tips and techniques specific to this engine, do's and don'ts, realistic performance upgrades,(I'm not headed to Lemans). I plan on taking my time and want to post video (probably you tube, I'll post link) of the project as it progresses so it may help not only myself but someone out there in the future. So here I go..

Having the right tools for the job is a huge plus. With those tools i hope you have a good manual. I find that reading over what needs to be done a few times along with the lables and documentation pictures helps. The good manual will help you out with tons of little things you don't know you don't know. The best manual i have seen is the Guy Croft book. It cost a couple dollars but i suspect it will be well worth if for a complete rebuild. Many documented specs and options with very good illustration.

take more pictures. particularly during disassembly. focus on details. bolts, washers, lock washers, orientation of parts. hose and wiring locations. just when you think you have it all covered, you will look for a picture to show you what you need and it wont be there. I have over 1100 pics of my rebuild and am still missing lots of stuff.
