Well that clears that up! Thanks. Now just have to find the right unterminated wire under the dash to pull on and see if it works! <{:^)

Re: Trunk lid won't open
The factory installed emergency release in a gray plastic covered cord or possibly a flexible wire. It terminates in a loop, up under the dash on the driver'e side.
Probably a shame that Pinnins never installed a remote boot/trunk release like they did with the Alfa, with a actuater in the driver's door clash. (so it was hidden when the door is closed/locked)

Re: Trunk lid won't open
I needed to get into the trunk of my project car. I had no keys for trunk. I have a parts car with a good lock cylinder and key. I didn’t want to drill any holes so I opened the trunk on the parts car and bent up a tool to access the latch lever through the upper right license plate screw hole. When contacting it properly it required a pushing action (when using the key you must turn it counter-clock-wise). It worked good. I used a piece of stiff wire about 1/8” in diameter. I’m am trying to attach some photos

Re: Trunk lid won't open
If you could post a picture of the tool you created that would be great. I just locked my keys in my trunk and will be attempting to open it via the hole-in-the-top-right-of-the-license-plate method. Thanks!Jeeptechfred wrote:I’m am trying to attach some photos

1/4" hole, as indicated, go in with an awl, and rock it side to side to catch the lever arm and open the latch.

Re: Trunk lid won't open
I'm not sure I like the idea of a rear trunk release that runs to the passenger cabin. On my car it would make opening the trunk a two person job as one pulled on the cable and the other slightly depressed the trunk. Seems that if you drill the small hole using the license plate method, you could install a small rubber grommet around the metal and have a pull wire there as well for emergency access.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Grommet, YES! And that plus the license plate hide the hole. Easy Peezy.

Re: Trunk lid won't open
As an update, I used the drill-a-hole-two-inches-down methodology and it worked like a charm. I couldn't quite get the hole-in-the-top-right-of-the-license-plate method to work so decided a small hole behind the license plate is a small price to pay for trunk access.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Trunk lid won't open
I just rubber-plugged the tiny hole behind the licence plate,...in case future access is ever needed.
But I also fixed the reason for no access - broken plastic trunk-release-arm. I fabricated a replacement arm from scrap stainless,...it's better than original (or replacements), by far!
