Power Distribution to Fuses

Post by blurple124 »

I am trying to understand the circuitry on this car so that I can diagnose my problems and make improvements.

How does power get distributed to Fused 4, 6, and 8? (aka D, F, H) The car is a 1978

I have Brad Artigue's Diagrams and there seems to be no connection to the top end of these fuses, I don't get it...

I believe the fuse panel has internal connections between some of the fuses. Example. "Hot all the time" voltage is fed to Fuse 1 from the starter/battery terminal. Fuse 1 is jumped to Fuse 1 is jumped to Fuse 2 so both fuses are "hot all the time"
Fuse 3 is fed from the hi/lo beam switch. Fuse 3 is jumped to Fuse 4 so both are powered at the same time and I think they are your HI beam fuses. Fuses 5 and 6 are internally jumped and also fed from the hi/lo beam switch. I believe they are your lo beam headlight fuses. Fuse 8 is jumped to Fuse 7 they are fed from the headlight/parking light switch and are your parking, sidelight and instrument lights.

Hope this is some help

I had a suspicion that that was the case, but I thought I would get a confirmation from some people more familiar with this...er...impressive...electrical system.

Another question that is probably pretty easy: the wiring diagrams refer to "Current Receptacles." What are these and are they necessary?

Also: Were there any in-line fuses installed by the factory in 1978? I have one and it does not appear in the diagrams, so is it a PO's?
