loose cable bolt on 82

I've been trying to do some cleaning under my car after getting an oil leak fixed and noticed this loose bolt. anyone know if there should be a nut on the back of this bolt or dear I ask, is it stripped, because it won't tighten. seems like I can barely get a finger or a nut behind it, but it does go through. hoping someone can confirm. thanks

It is common for that hole to get stripped. It is bad, because it holds the engine ground cable.
The solution is to reroute the cable to the lower starter bolt, and the put the lower shield bolt in without the cable.
It should grab a few more threads that way, but tighten it just barely enough so it does not come loose. Maybe use thread locker.

it's real important to have that cable securely grounded, otherwise the electrical current will find another path to ground. It may end up using the clutch cable, throttle cable or other wiring that can't carry the current load

oh, your saying it should be on the bottom shield bolt? Because the bolt is hanging from a hole above that . What about going to the bolt on the other side or will it not reach?

There should be another 13mm headed bolt on the other side, will it reach there? Yes it is common to strip but if you have the time and tools a helicoil will set it all straight.
For additional ground I had cleaned one of the long bolts on the front passenger side of the engine and routed a large diameter cable to a clean rad mounting stud.

No, I said the bottom STARTER bolt. It's a bit higher up, you'll have to bend the cable around a bit to make it go there.
It is the bolt that goes forward and holds the starter.
