I'm replacing the timing belt on my 78 1800 & the cam gears are 2 different styles (solid & slotted). The marks line up fine so I don't think there is a problem there but was wondering what the difference is in the 2 styles.
I was kinda planning on running w/o the belt cover & painting them but the mis-match would look funny.
Most all I have seen are the solid type & would like to find an intake one to match, what will work, only 1800 or are the 2000 gears the same?

Re: mis-matched cam gears
the intake gear is a replacement. there is nothing wrong with that gear, in fact i would find an exhaust to mach that one as the weight would be less. im assuming that your intake had a fiber gear and someone replace it

Re: mis-matched cam gears
most people like the look of the gear with the holes. As a note, Jason Miller can only use the solid gears to convert to adjustable sprockets
