Spares?

Post by JammerX19 »

I keep reading all these posts about how folks carry spare parts with them in their Spiders. If you were going to make a list of things to keep in the trunk on those long drives, what would it look like?

I carry my auto club and visa cards. I agree with Jim - you could wind up with a trunk full of parts!

My rotor disintegrated and took out the distributor cap and the advance springs.

Also had the coil wire flex and break at the distributor from hitting the hood. Corrected that but I carry spares of all the mentioned parts.

Long trip with a 82,I always carry a tool bag w/ basic tools.I keep a fuel pump, magnetic p/u and rotor with me along with some clamps, piece of hose, electrical and duct tape! I have never been stranded in the car,but I have had tools to rescue broken Brit cars  The mag p/u is one item that will shut you down and you will never find one in a parts store!

Probably better to be proactive with regular maintenance and keep it in regular use. Things can fail on all cars but there are enough spiders and parts dealers around and these days of the internet, ebay, visa cards and overnight couriers, even fedex emergency couriers, you'd be hard pressed to really get stuck. It just might cost a bit for things in a hurry (as with all cars).
