What engine do I have?

I'm a little embarassed to admit that after owning this car since 2008, I never checked to see if my engine was really the correct one for my '79 2000 chassis. Well today I checked and it seems that my engine is not a 1995 cc engine.

I checked the head # between the spark plugs and the number was 132 AC 2C underneath that 440611. The middle of the block says 132AC40/. What engine do I have?

Looks like a 1600, but maybe I'm reading it wrong, or Wikipedia could be wrong

The middle of the block says 132AC40/. What engine do I have?

Are you looking at the cast number in the middle of the block? Should be looking at the stamped number on a machined boss just to the right of where the oil dipstick tube goes into the block.

For a 2 liter carburetor engine ('79-'80) the stamped number is 132C2.040 for 49 state or 132C2.031 for California.

Yeah I was looking at the middle of the block as I couldn't fin the lower one you mentioned at first. I found the other one you mentioned but couldn't make all of it out as it is really thinly stamped. The beginning starts with 132 c2 040
