Troubleshooting rough running FI

Post by JammerX19 »

My car always runs a little rough. Even after warmed up, it has the occasional miss. How smooth is the FI 2L supposed to run? Is this something I should leave alone or can I smooth it out? Plugs and wires are new. Gonna try new rotor and cap to see what that does. Anything else?

should run as smooth as a baby's behind. may want to look at fuel issues. old or dirty injectors can cause rough running.

The car runs perfectly out on the road. The miss only occurs at idle (as far as I can tell). Would a faulty injector work under load?

mine did to a couple years ago till i went to back in the driveway or drive slow it would stall out there is a guy in big rapids michigan that rebuilds them but you need to send him 3 or 4 extras. he flows them and gets you a matched set within 5 % of each other for $17 per injector. or i think new are $150 or so per injector. i think the name is something like cruzin performance. i would offer to loan you a few injectors but i have already loaned them out and non was returned..

I had a rough idle problem that was caused by air leaks.
Make sure all of air hose connections are tight.

I am with Geoff on this. The injectors would be down on my list, after checking all connections,hoses,sensors,etc...Download a copy of Brad's Bosch f.i. manual and do the f.i. tuneup in there.Very easy and it eliminates a bunch of issues.I had the same problem back a couple years ago,and found a split in my main intake hose.Taped it up(until I got a new one)and problem solved.

Found a small crack in my intake hose last week so I replaced it. Man what a difference! Apparently I was getting unmetered air all this time. I'll give it a few miles to see how much of an improvement it actually is.
