I finally got the old starter out and replaced with a new one.
Yes, it's possible to remove/replace from the bottom like Mark suggests. Need to turn the steering wheel to the right to get the linkages to open up below.
I got the car started but the starter stayed engaged. I turned the car off but the starter kept going until I disconnected the battery. When I connect the battery the starter tries to crank.
I think maybe I wired it wrong.
There was one post on the new starter and one clip type connection.
I attached the big power wire and the two other wires with eye connections to the one big post.
I attached the clip type connection to the clip connection. There's actually two clip style connections, I tried both, same result.
Did I miss a connection or something?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Starter Cranks on it's own

Do you have a test-light? or a meter?
I can walk ya through troubleshooting, but you'll need to be able to identify with either a testlight or meter.

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

Maybe your solenoid is stuck.

Re: Starter Cranks on it's own
My next step will be to remove the little clip wire and see if that keeps it from cranking.
I was wondering if maybe the other big wires were touching one of the clips and causing the problem.
I have a meter and light type checker if you want to give some ideas for trouble shooting.
This didn't happen with the old starter before it died.

Resolved - the power wire was touching one of the contacts for the solenoid clip type terminal.
