I agree with you on some of the things you say here but there is no need to hurt the feelings of the members that don't.

Who is the world would have their feelings hurts by such obviously sarcastic comments? Folks if I offended anyone by making fun of your bumper deprived Spider, and if you got your feelings hurt, then you may want to consider a Miata. They don't have bumpers either. Honestly people, please...

over the years of painting hundreds of cars, i am always surprised at which cars were the most beautiful when stripped and primed and just got uglier with the addition of bumpers and chrome strips. the italian cars of the 60s are very complete artistically without the bumpers. The 124 spider is one of these cars. I have also grown to like the "double bumper" models and have come to appreciate how well fiat was able to meet fed requirements. eventhough I'm not in the "Brad" camp, my hat is off to anyone who puts tradition and stock at the top of their list. To this point, i try to make a point of any mods i do to my car can be reversed.

A straight pipe all the way back with a resonator at the tip will get you something like that sound - but most of what you are hearing are dual webers on a non-water cooled manifold.

it's the induction noise from a set of side drafts that is addictive for me and followed by the correct rasp just sweetens the deal, unfortunatly I have a FI model, so in factory form, no induction noise and I have an after market stainless system 'supposedly done by professionls' that really isn't the fiat sound I'd like...however at high revs going down a straight some people have complemented the sound....

In my opionion re the bumpers, the slim line original looks the best, 2nd is no bumper and lastley is the impact solution, not as bad as other cars of the era that had to obey by the same rules.....

here's a question. My exhaust broke where the resonator connects to the muffler pipe. The garage has given me two options 1) straight pipe to the muffler (keeping in mind I do not have , nor need a cat) or 2) replace the resonator thoughts?

Can you get both peice's made up and swap them over when it suits you?? It all depend on how loud is loud??

I had to have my muffler baffled as when I said I didn't want it loud it was something they couldn't comprehend....

Some of the videos on Youtube have high, tinny, notes that I don't like. Mark's has a good low rumble in comparison.

If you're a bumper remover then you probably don't care how the car looks, so just get an ANSA and spray paint "ABARTAH" on the side.

about the bumpers : a side-view of a bumperless spider is not OK : too much shark for such a friendly car ( but that is only my opinion, don't throw those heavy 'American' bumpers at my head ! )

@roybatty : nice with those extra lights, F. GTO California - wise , surely without the bumpers.

Quite honestly - and more seriously - you can't go wrong with stock. I can't think of a viewing angle that makes a bumperless Spider look good. I also don't know what this board is so full of bumper haters. You'll all come around, by the way, it is tendency with old car owners to eventually come back to stock. You get rid of the chumpy owner mods as you mature. ha...mature.
