Hi, I have managed to get a new old stock 34ADF running on my 69 1.4 AS Spider and it has added performance and efficiency but needs fine tuning as Im finding that it's running a bit too rich.
Does anybody know what size jets are best for this carb on a 1.4 engine? Thanks in advance.

The 34ADF came on larger engines, so I would try something that's smaller than what's in there
The US version of the 1438 came with a much smaller carb, so the jets would not be comparable. The Euro version had a 34DFH, so if you can find out what were the jet sizes in that you should be pretty close.

Assuming it is an otherwise stock engine, try these:
Main jet. Prim 118 (120 if not available) sec 125
Air corrector. Prim 165 sec 175
Emulsion tube Prim F20 sec F5
Idle jet Prim 45 (try 47 if available) sec 80 (you may like an 85).
My 131 manual has the following jetting for a 34 ADF carb on a 2 litre.
Main jet. Prim 122 sec 130
Air corrector. Prim 170 sec 180
Emulsion tube Prim F20 sec F5
Idle jet Prim 50 sec 90.
Be sure you have the float properly set.
This is what I ran on my 1.4L AS many years ago.

The notes regarding the jets that are below those for the 1.4L (in my last post) are what I ran on one of my 131s. They will work for a 2.0L real well.
I never did dyno the AS, but it ran well with the jets in my last post. The sizes listed for the 131resulted from dyno runs.

SHE'S ALIVE!!!!!!
Cheers sptcoupe, much appreciated, tweaked the carb today lifting jets from other webers to hand. Its perky to say the least and is happy to go when asked and idle comfortably, just need to calm the farty resonantor down abit now. Soooo much better with a 34 ADF.
Just out of interest what top speed did you manage to get with the 34 on your 1.4 AS?

Glad to hear you are enjoying her. As I recall, it was about 105 + mph. But it was really fun on twisties between 20 and 70 mph.
Are you getting backfires in the exhaust?

Yes, is that standard for the size carb on the size of the engine?
