Installing a new Air Flow Meter

Post by RLJB »

Hi Everyone

After 11 years of putting up with a "sticky" air flow meter ie it got stuck when reved high and then caused the car to stop. I finally bought a refurb one for US$168 from directauto.com, which arrived from the US to Sydney, Australia in about 7 days normal post, big tick for them.

Now I have to install it, can I have some advice from the experts please.... is it a simple bolt off and bolt on procedure? Or will I need to do some kind of tuning/calibration and if so, what and how do I do this?

Thanks for your help!

Rod.

it is a simple install, and there is an air/fuel mixture adjustment screw on it. But without a CO meter, the only way to adjust it is to us a voltmeter on the O2 sensor wire. Try to get a .450volt reading from the O2 sensor

Rod,

May be of help !

I just purchased some F.I. parts here in Sydney from AFI at Mortdale. AFM connector etc... they said they can do other parts as well inc. ECU exchange. A mechanic friend put me on to them, said the parts were compadible with early model Ford's FI here in Oz.

Thanks Mark / Adrian. I will try the self install option and tell you how it goes.

Hey Adrian good to see another Spider in Sydney! Tell me who do you use as a mechanic? I used Graham Smith At Fiatorque in Guildford but it looks like he might be closing down, besides which I'm in Manly now so it's a bit of a hike. Do you have anyone you would recommend?

Cheers
