Timing Question

Post by joelittel »

Do you have to pull the fan out to check the timing on an '80 fuel injected model? I can't see my timing marks with the fan in place, is that right?

It's real hard to see, but I can usually find a spot where I can sort of see them without removing anything.

Real hard to see is an understatement. Is there a trick to it?

I find the fan is not the issue but the thermostat is in the way a bit. Once I have the pointer and the crank mark painted (white), the timing light makes it easier to see.

Not too technical but I use a small mirror that I slide behind the thermostat. It makes the timing marks real easy to see.
