Throttle Adjustment Screw

Post by joelittel »

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for the little black rubber donut on the throttle adjustment screw?

I'd also like to know what the factory setting is for that screw and does the rubber donut get put onto the screw (like you would a regular washer seated near the head of the screw) or does the donut sit on the tapered tip of the screw and get pushed down into the orifice?

When I took the adjustment screw out there was a lot of "junk" caked on the tapered tip. Looking into the orifice I can see even more junk down there. Can I spray carb cleaner down the hole to clean that junk out or at least break it up a bit?

Carb or FI car? If carb'd, what kind of carb?
If you're talking about a rubber O-ring they can be found at places like NAPA, or even Lowe's, they're listed by inside and outside diameter, so take the old one with you.
If your car is FI the O-ring sits in a groove near the tip of the idle screw.

Thanks Ron. The groove I think your are talking about looks to be at the top of the screw, right under the head and above the threads. Is that right?

I'll check the auto parts stores, thanks. I was worried this would be a hard part to find.
