smelly exhaust....

Post by deacon »

In the last few months the 78 has really started to really smell when it runs. I'm serious..... It doesn't burn oil, no smoke except at start up after sitting for a long time. It runs good, has only a few hundred miles on tune and carb was rebuilt a thousand miles ago. Too rich, too lean? Exhaust pipe is dark, but no oil residue. Have not pulled plugs yet. I will probably do it tomorrow. It's obviously no big deal with the top down, but with the top up it is down right stinky. Unusual question I know, but I always learn something when I post a question on this forum.

There was a thread a little while ago about exhaust leaks and tailpipe exhaust getting back inside the car. May want to check that out, as the discussion was pretty extensive.
