Maytag. Don't worry about the a holes that comment on this site and your post. People are a strange being and it takes all types to make the world as we know it. This forum is wourld wide and that blows my mind that we have advanced that far in the last 30 years . We can sit here in the confort of our home and speak our minds to the world. I know this is a little deep but some people enjoy direspecting others and its something we just have to live with. I enjoy raeding your post and the attitude you have toward others. Well, I'll assume fiatmonkey pointed his post at me since I'm a vendor that responded. Sure, many cars have vented rotors but many still do not in this day and age. Why would a mfg not use a vented rotor? economics? lack of need due to vehicle specifics? Try to get an answer from a mfg . The only reason is because it's not needed in that circumstance. A vented rotor won't make your car stop better or quicker. Is it less prone to warpage? No. I do brake work every day and I find more warped vented rotors than I see on Fiat solid rotors. Do vented rotors cool better? I'd say yes, but you'd have to do a
comparison on a brake dyno to tell for sure. The biggest advantage I can see with an upgrade is the amount of swept area. If you have overly large brakes, I wouldn't think you would be overheating them unless you just aren't a very good driver.

So, to go back to fiatmonkey's post, I am always curious about posters that don't use their real name or disclose anything about themselves. There are several vendors that post here under pseudonymes or have employees post, in an attempt to discredit other members. They want to use the forum for their own benefit without contributing, either financially or with advice.

maytag: I'm with you too. These days it's hard to find any forum without trolls. And it's equally hard to resist the temptation to call them out, as they so richly deserve. There are times I can't help myself, either. Never seems to help, though.

Mark: as I posted on the other thread, I completely agree that vented rotors make no sense on the street; neither do drilling and slotting. In fact I think it's just the opposite; solid is simply better in nearly all street applications, for the same reason that you can't run race pads on the street--worst possible choice. Frankly, on the street keeping some heat in the brakes is a bigger problem than dissipating enough heat to not fade the pads. And if retaining heat is the bigger problem, the very last thing you need are vented rotors that dissipate faster. So I’d say stick with solid.

Don't let a few bad Apples spoil the whole bunch may apply here, negative remarks are apart of
forums sometimes, people use them to express them self's in a way they wouldn't dare in public
or to someones face it's a cowardly way of acting like a bad ass or that 2 faced guy who can't tell
the person who he has a beef with directly so he might vent it on the web. 99% of the people on
this site are cool, honest and down to earth ! There's always going to be some negative people
around in life no matter where you go the internet is no different .


I enjoy reading the posts people do on there projects and should chime in a little more once in a while
with a " good job " or " well done " often times i view the progress but fail to say something positive
about it I'll try to be more active as a poster if that helps sorry for the lack of effort on my part .

I do like your posts as well and hope this doesn't keep your project from becoming public as this would
be discouraging to many i am sure . A small amount people on here rarely post anything and rely on the
long time members to show them the ropes on these cars . Your project is far more interesting then
many will admit or respond to don't take the silence from these members as a bad thing .

I get a lot of pm's at times asking for advice and i share my views and experience when i have time to
the best of my ability . Some of these people don't post much of anything on the forum but I know
they are searching around cause they'll ask about an old post that hasn't been talked about in ages .

FWIW I've been heavily into the web and forums for some years -- even for a time as official 'responder' on Ducati.com with a monthly column entitled "As You Were Saying." And in all my years I've never known a nicer group than here on FiatSpider.

Fact is that people with deep interests tend to see things one way. I've found that on moto sites, photo sites, music sites and even a forum dedicated to making good coffee. If someone is downright nasty I like to see them spoken to and if needed squashed. (One site on which I am a moderator has a special 'button' that allows the moderators to make a person's posts invisible to anyone but themselves. I won't say which. We don't want them to know why no one there is reacting to their flames!)

But apart from such intentional nastiness I prefer to see posters left along -- even if they appear to be narrow-minded buffoons to the majority. To me they add personality, a touch of comic release (although with some the laughing is best kept quiet) and from time to time their particular fetish proves to be of value to others.

Anyhow, that's my take. But as to ventilated rotors... well, let me just tell you...

haha, changing my statement is a cute trick! I'm sure you've noticed other vendors posting on this site and some that are absent. Csaba, for instance, provides help and advice as well as offering parts. The help and advice are key. Vendors that answer a request for help by offering parts and nothing else are of no/little help. When they don't contribute financially either, it's pretty easy to see they just using the forum for their own benefit. When a vendor falls into that category, they should just start their own forum.

your excellent grasp and use of the language led me to believe that you would understand sarcasm. My post above fairly dripped with it. Of course you misquoted Mark on purpose.... that is the point I was making, sarcastically. I'm sorry that escaped you.
Let me set the record straight for you (as I'm sure everyone else already understands). I absolutely believe that you know how to use the keyboard, and the "quote" tools in your posts. I absolutely believe that you missed the two most important words of that quote on purpose. I bow to your superior use of the English language, and its associated literary and editorial tools and nuance.

As for schoolyard dust-ups and honor; I thankfully have no need of either here. And rightly so, since an internet forum would be a poor place to seek either. My "knee-jerk", as you'll notice, is not about confronting anyone to whom I feel superior. It's about confronting those who I see as the "school-yard Bully" to use your own analogy. I see what looks like a consistent pattern of the same culprits bullying the same victims over and over again. And I step in. Just like decades ago, back at the schoolyard. (HEY!
