Air intake removal, 82 FI

Post by ylbill »

Okay, I was trying to address some oil leaks which I believe are coming from the distributor and exhaust manifold rear port. In doing so, I removed the air intake line to try and pinpoint the leaks and clean it up a bit more. It was the end of the day, so I left it as is for another day. I thought I would check my manual to see if I could find the bolt size for the manifold so I could replace them. In the manual, the area I'm working falls under the cylinder head removal. It says to, disconnect battery, loosen gas cap, drain radiator from plug, drain engine coolant through lower right side of block, remove air intake line. My question is, is this all necessary just to remove the air intake line, which I've already done without doing all that other stuff first. They must be referring to if removing cylinder head right? Just want to be sure. Thanks

Yeah. The air intake line that runs from the air filter/air flow control module to the intake manifold is not related to all that other stuff.

That's what I thought. Thanks!
