Injector retainers

Post by lgifford16 »

Hopefully this is a quick question- which "direction" do the fuel injector retainers mount?

I just got a full set of new injectors from Allison, and am wondering if the lip on the retainer faces the large seal or the electrical connection.

Also- any hints for getting these F!#ing things back in place?

Thanks!

Hmm. I'm getting older and memory is.... what was I talking about/ but I think ridged face down. This gives a little bit of purchase in keeping the injectors in place. But I hope someone will correct if wrong.
I have used a wee bit of graphite or electrical grease on the large rings only. That helped a little bit in getting them to fit in the aluminium intake.
I trust you have new fuel hose on. While the rail is out,it is a great time to swap the old cracked original hose.Use the proper fuel line clamps as well, the screw type can grab the hose outer lining and pinch/weaken it.
Getting them back in can test your paitence but with a bit of effort they do go back. I found I had to stop and think through the clamp tightener location to enable the clips to go back on as well.
At start up, have a rag handy and watch the conections for leaks. After shutting down I put dry towels under there to see if there was any weeping.

Thankfully all the hose is new as the injectors I have came with have the hose installed and a good clamp included :)

I think the problem was, from further reading etc, that the large seals I had were a good 1/8" to big. Got new seals, should be much easier this way!
