I've Lost My Flipping Mind...

Post by opus10583 »

Hi...

This is, no doubt, not a new story, it is, however, my current dilemma:

Driving the car harder as I rebuilt the suspension, restored the exhaust, added a DFEV; has only made the oil weeping worse, has only made the oil burning worse.

Replace the head gasket! -> While it's off - rebuild the head! -> While it's off - replace the pistons! -> Might as well - upgrade the cams!

This all imagineered while driving to work this morning.

$18 part turned into $3,000 "parts and labor", in 26minutes.

I was going to wait until next winter, I have all the bits to do the interior sitting in my apartment...

How do I stop?!

Thanks,
Mark

Sounds like we are sitting in exactly the same boat. There is only one thing you can do and you will always regret it when the sun is out. Sell the damn car!!!

You just did a bunch of basic upgrades to get the car opperational, safe, and a bit of performance. Enjoy it for a while, you are just at the start of the driving season. Have fun all summer and think about what you want to buy and do for the winter.

They all weep oil, just as long as they are not crying or balling oil.

Hi Tobi,

No... I'm actually thinking of buying a TC sedan or a 131 coupe!

Only because I know I'll never find a 128SL in the USA.

Ciao,
Mark

Thanks Matt,

The hippie in me is really bummed by the gratuitous oil spillage.

...Someone did tell me, 'sure, it leaks oil; that's why it's not rusted through'.

Look at it this way.... You're just putting the oil back in the ground where it came from originally.
