Argh
My low oil pressure light started to flicker on yesterday.
This morning i chnaged the oil (rotella).
After a couple of minutes of idle the low oil indicator light comes on.
If i turn off engine and start it again it will idle for a few minutes and then the light comes on.
Is there any way to easily check if oil pressure is really low?
Unfotunately this is an 82 so no pressure guage.
Oil pan does hve a dent in front but this is an old dent.
Thanks
Geoff

Re: Low oil pressure light
the only accurate way is to screw a mechanical gauge into the port for the sending unit.

Re: Low oil pressure light
Hi Geoff, I had this same issue happen out of the blue in my Spider which has a good motor in it and is serviced regularly.
The low oil pressure switch on the oil filter block ended up being at fault.

Re: Low oil pressure light
Installed a pressure sender unit and an oil pressure gauge.
Engine off guage is just above 0.
Engine idling guage is just over 40/50 line ( gauge has 0 to 100 and 0 to 80 scale).
Rev engine and pressure rises a little.
Now to replace the low pressure sender.
