Trouble!

Post by Weelan »

So... I was attempting to get the metal shroud off from behind the timing belt, and in the process I backed the screw that holds the spring out a bit too far and it doesn't go back in cause the spring moved...

Before I start pulling everything off like the timing belt, is there some way I'm not seeing to get the spring back in place and the bolt in? Really not sure what the next step is here please help!

unhook the spring from the tensioner, then reinstall the bolt. Then you can use channel locks or a small pry bar to hook the spring again

I did the same exact thing a couple of weeks ago.

It's tough getting the spring back in. I used locking pliers.

I suggest stripping everything out of the way before putting it back in. You'll appreciate the extra room to move.

You'll need a fair bit of push to lock in, but it can be done.

Thanks guys, trying to wrap my head around that.
I have channel lock pliers, did y'all place the spring and then try to pull or push the hook over to the hole? If I pull it, I can get to about the start of the bracket and not really further. Not much luck pushing.
