Oil Spillage
Oil Spillage
Hi all, my baby is just about done, just the passenger seat and the console then its done. I took the car down to the exhaust shop to have a new one fitted (first time its driven since it was stripped). I had driven about 5 km's when a puff of smoke came from the engine. I stopped and noticed oil lying in the channel where the spark plugs are and it appears as though the oil has come out of the oil cap.IS THIS POSSIBLE? What should I do? Is there not supposed to be some type of pressure breather that stop the oil pressure from building up like that? I am too scared to make the cap any tighter in case the increased pressure damages the motor. ANYONE GOT SOME ADVISE, PLEASE.

Re: Oil Spillage
Also make sure you oil cap gasket is good, new ones are cheap. And check that the valve covers are tight.

Re: Oil Spillage
oil caps are a common source of leaks, the gasket needs to be replaced yearly, or sooner

Re: Oil Spillage
There was a pipe going from the vent to the bottom of the airfilter. The pipe had bent close due to the way it was routed. I put a new pipe in which had a thickker wall so that it doesnt bend and PROBLEM SORTED. Thanks again.
