I have a new gasket, but it looks like this is the way to go. Anybody know if it can it also be used WITH a gasket?

In the second column of the directions you posted it gives instructions for use with a gasket.

Duh - Should have waited until I had time to read it before I posted it!

I was so glad to find it I jumped the gun.

Thanks to everyone on this forum who added wisdom to this project. Started on first try! :D

WInter projects: Calipers painted, new E-brake cable, exhaust manifold and down pipe cleaned, high-temp paint and new gaskets, oil leak around exhaust studs sealed, cut two 2.5" cold air vents to re-positioned K&N air filter, cleaned Aux air valve etc. etc. etc.

Video at: http://youtu.be/cVUPei9sAvQ
(Exhaust note and cold start/idle/power MUCH improved! Might need a little more "burping!")

Pretty sure that fitting is just for draining coolant from the block.

Yep - I think that was just a "dribble down" of a factory sealant. Maybe it was a Monday or Friday car - it wouldn't be the first "un-neat" thing about Fiat factory production. :)

FWIW, mine has the same dribble so it is probably a Fiat signature. :D
