Post by 81SPIDERMATT »

I know.. get a manual... and i plan too

noticed recently and suddenly a ticking... thought it was the valves.. po did a rebuild on the engine so this surprised me... with research i made a make shift stethascope and found it was the exhaust manifold... all three nuts on the bottom are gone... also motor mount on that side is loose.... got the nuts .... double nutted (is that a word) the studs and have them in good and tight... just need to know how tight to make the nuts.... thanks.... matt 81 spider 2000

According to the shop manual the manifold nuts are torqued to 22 ft-lbs.

Mark is right. I went back and checked, and I was looking at the wrong section - 22 ft-lbs is if you have a turbo.

Sorry about that.

Although I highly recommend getting the paper one if you want a .pdf version for the short term you can get it at:

First improvement I made was reclaim the exhaust system, first value I looked up was the manifold nut torque spec; it stuck with me.
