Mark is installing my new head and cams. But before, Tim from next door applied the "Singh Groove" treatment to my heads. This is supposed to keep the fuel burning more completely.

And if it did, it would be OEM on every head that rolled off a production line.TVST*R wrote:This is supposed to keep the fuel burning more completely.

I'll politely disagree with that.131 wrote:And if it did, it would be OEM on every head that rolled off a production line.TVST*R wrote:This is supposed to keep the fuel burning more completely.
There are MANY, MANY products / practices / methods /etc that never make it to production vehicles because of the difficulty in manufacturing. So just because we don;t see it from an OEM should not dissuade us from exploring its usefulness or efficacy.
however; having said that.... I'd have to see some dyno charts on this to believe it. To me, it looks like a great way to waste $$ and lower your CR.
I think I understand the theory behind it... but just like indexing a spark-plug, or dimpling the outside-radius of the intake ports: it may make some improvement on some motors, when you are trying to solve a specific issue. But otherwise.... I don't see it.

A quote from Mr singhs web page:maytag wrote:I'll politely disagree with that. "[using] Mr. Singh's invention, the yearly national fuel savings would equal the amount of oil America imports from the Persian Gulf."
If it were true manufacturers would be all over it like blowflies on a turd. A couple of grooves in a head would not be difficult to add to the manufacturing process if the gains are so profound.

Wow. I stand corrected. I didn't realize this was an "invention", and that this sort of claim was being made.131 wrote: A quote from Mr singhs web page:

I agree with you, that if the claims were even HALF-TRUE, then we would be seeing them everywhere.

Re: Singh Grooves for my Head...What???
I 'beleive' singh grooves were for motor/head combo's that had a crappy combustion chamber, like the motors of yester year prior to fiat units. The Lampredi unit was a well designed motor from the begining that may not benefit from the grooves.
A before and after dyno test will either prove me right or wrong???? Bueller Bueller

It just means that I did not have anything good to say about it, but felt compelled to post something.

Those grooves seem like they might cause hot spots and detonation to me, but what do I know? Maybe they are the best thing since sliced bread?
