brake booster repair
Does any one know how to remove the black plastic cylinder looking thing that secures the diaphram in the brake booster. I dont want to brake it but if it does unscew for a fact then I will get it off. I have looked all day, bored at work, and I haven't been able to find anything on it but a lot of trouble separating the two halves. That part really was not that hard once I figured out how it come apart.

Re: brake booster repair
The diaphragm replacement did not work. Still leaking like a sieve. Wi replace with new one later. Now to get these##**¥*# blessed screws loose to bleed the system. Looks like it's time to get the drill and tap out. Does anyone know the thread size of the bleeders?

Joe, just read your post. Already drilled ,there was nothing left to grab hold of to back out.

Re: brake booster repair
I've seen professionally rebuilt calipers that had an oversize bleeder fitted. Not sure if such a thing is available form auto parts stores, but if it is then one could fit it.124JOE wrote:you cant drill and tap a caliper

Re: brake booster repair
I have drilled and tapped to 5/16 and flushed all shavings from the caliper. I'm having trouble now getting the master cylinder primed to pump fluid to the wheels. Any tips csaba on doing this? I have pumped the brake at least 500 times and can get no fluid to the lines. I have them now broke on top of cylinder and see no fluid.

It's a good idea to bench bleed the M/C first. Air can get trapped in it and bench bleeding allows you to tilt it so this air can escape.

Re: brake booster repair
Ron, 25 years ago I knew that but I had a brain malfunction and forgot. I will pull it back off And bench bleed it. Thanks.

Re: brake booster repair
You betcha.
Actually, I can't take the credit for this one. Ventura Ace made the suggestion to me when I replaced my M/C, and even loaned me a kit to do it with.

Make sure the reservoir to MC lines flow freely.
