I'm in a daze to find I have no reed valve

I am wortking on an engine rebuild that I am doing on a spare engine that I have. I was cleaning the head and removing the reed valves when it occurred to me that when I did my carb upgrade last year on my other engine that I didn't have to mess with reconnecting or plugging the reed valves. So I checked and sure enough no reed valve or plugged reed valve hole. I then checked the casting number (4439644) and realized that it is a head from a '79 Brava. Talk about feeling dirty

Now it brings me to consider the implications of this. I'm wondering if there is a compression difference or a flow difference with the Brava head. Does anyone have any info on the Brava head and it's performance characteristics?

I believe the Brava should have used reed valves also in 79. I'll have to research it. Either way, there weren't any different versions of 2L that I ever heard of as far as compression

is it Calif or US spec?

US Spec. Only mod that I have done is 34 ADF Carb with single plane intake manifold.

I researched the factory manual and the 131 US version had 6 more hp than the Calif version and didn't use air injection. So, no reed valve you lucky dog!
