A 'gotta have it' tool
If you have seen this before, then disregard.
This little tool works too well to not have it in your box.

Re: A 'gotta have it' tool
I have never seen anything like that. To move the pistons on the rears I have used a large file on edge.
On another note...the tool that I have used most in restoring my spider has been the bench grinder my son gave me years ago for my birthday, with a wire wheel on one side.

Gotta be careful using a file like that. They are brittle and might break and cause you to jab yourself with a sharp hunk of broken file.
Re: A 'gotta have it' tool
They seem to be readily available all over the interwebz for <$10.
I have not attacked brake calipers yet - what can this little item do for me?

Re: A 'gotta have it' tool
screwing in the rear piston is a PITA as they do not turn easily and require lots of room if using a file or a long screwdriver. Definity would be a worthwhile tool.

This tool is for amateurs, check out SIR tools caliper winders, get the full kit. I have one and it's the bomb. But I'm a professional mechanic! http://www.sirtools.com/Default.htm

Re: A 'gotta have it' tool
Autozone has a loan-a-tool program that carries a caliper turn in tool, like the professionals use.Give em $20,take it home and do the brakes, and bring back to autozone for a full refund. You cant beat it for stuff you dont use often.

Well I guess I am an amateur when it comes to Fiats. I'm just a professional aerospace mechanic.jkn070458 wrote:This tool is for amateurs, check out SIR tools caliper winders, get the full kit. I have one and it's the bomb. But I'm a professional mechanic! http://www.sirtools.com/Default.htm
But I have put more than 40K miles on my '75 since acquiring it a year an a half ago and it is somehow still running great.
That little tool cost less than 10 bucks at the local NAPA store and it worked EXACTLY as it was supposed to.
Oh, and I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.........so, I'm just sayin'......
