Stumbled upon this site. It looks like a good one so here I am.
I am a saver of forgotten, abandoned, or lost cars...if I see a Fiat in a back yard, field or alley I must bring it home. My wife doesn't object if I can sneak them in the barn before she sees it. Good thing she doesn't go out there too often.
Fiats listed from latest to first acquired:
1972 124 Spider 1600 - This was a real gem owned by an old lady. NInety five percent stock. Only had a blown head gasket. The reason it kept overheating on her was because the aftermarket electric fan was wired to blow air forward all the time!!
1969(?) 850 Spider and mid 70's 124 Spider - Farmers field. The 850 has Cosmic wheels that I've never seen anywhere else. Car awaiting my attention. The 124 was beyond restoration but has already provided useful parts.
1979 Spider 2000 - Half buried in a junk yard - I had to bring it home. I rebuilt the 2 litre engine using 1800 intake manifold and carb. 4-2-1 manifold. Removed bumpers (of course), cut springs, added Lancia wheels.
1981 X-19 - Found in same junkyard, currently waiting my attention. Plan on ditching the FI since half is missing anyway. Might use Yugo head to boost compression. More later.
1977 X-19 - abandoned project, just had to finish up. Mods so far, 32/36 DFEV Carb. I used Yugo stablizer bars, front and rear (Had to fabricate my own brackets but cost was nil).
1975 X-19 - Was abandoned on the street, paint and tlc put her right. Keeping this one stock.
1977 131 - Had this one since 1987. Brought it home from West Virginia junk yard. 2 litre engine with 1800 intake and head. 32/36 Weber. 4-2-1-manifold, 2" exhaust, rear sway bar.
I think this covers my Fiat collection, but since we are talking Italian, I can't forget to mention my 1974 Alfetta GT - currently idle due to Spica-itis.
Pics may follow if we can figure out how to do it....
