How many quarts of oil in our Spiders Question

Fiat Team,
I have an 1800 with a 2L block and my dip stick readings are not correct... I changed the oil for the first time since I have owned it and I have about 4 3/4 quarts of oil in it. I know that is too much, but since I just discovered that my dipstick isn't correct, I am wondering what I should do now. Partial drain? Leave it alone? How much oil should go in these?

Depends on the size of the oil filter. Capacity with a "large" filter is 4-3/4 quarts. With the "small" filter, figure about 4-1/4. Size comparisons here: http://dcfiats.org/tech/filter-B.pdf

Nice Tech paper, Bernie! I am using the Purolator presently. The specs you presented make this look like a good choice and value. The Purolator and the Fram seem to be the most readily available here in eastern Mass.
