Getting a bit of exhaust vibration/noise through the body of my '79 spider. Upon investigation, I see the only area the exhaust is not isolated from the body of the car is through the tranny, via the stabilizing bracket between the exhaust/tranny and then the tranny mounting to the body.
Is there supposed to be any type of rubber isolating washers on the tranny to body mount, similar to the driveshaft center bearing support to body mount???

Re: Tranny mounting
Never mind, I see now that the rear tranny mount actually isolates the setup from the body so my issue must lie elsewhere. I suspect that with the car on the ground and loaded, the exhaust must be contacting the body somewhere. Probably the best bet will be to take it to a shop and let a pro re-hang the exhaust as needed - I'd like to get a leak check done anyway.

Re: Tranny mounting
Today I found the driveshaft center bearing support contacting the tunnel on the drivers side - was able to loosen the mounting bolts and pry it over a little, so that there is no contact.
I also found the rear muffler pipe making contact with the panhard rod near the bend where it goes over the axle - I was able to adjust the fit between the muffler and the center resonator to eliminate that contact point. I will still probably run it by a shop and let them have a look.
A short test drive showed a definite improvement.
