Bracket Question

Post by aj81spider »

My 1974 has a bracket on the passenger side of the engine that holds the timing belt cover on. As you can see in the picture it is much longer than needed with what looks like a mounting hole on the end. Anyone know what this is for? Is my engine missing something or is it "just one of those things?"

that bracket is for holder your air pump.....pollution device of the time. most people just remove them when they stopped working. the pump itself look like a small alternator.
